Hello! I’m Hannah
I’m your charismatic freelance health and nutrition writer. You can also call me a clinical dietitian, a sports dietitian, and an avid foodist. I take all roles seriously!
Don’t worry, however. I’m not too serious. My writing can be (and absolutely will be) if that’s the tone of your publication or brand. But I’m naturally a bubbly person who loves infusing personality into words.
I understand the nuances of science and can translate hard facts into engaging content. How did I learn this skill? Through years of working with professional athletes who compelled me to make science easy to understand.
My postgraduate studies in professional writing and my love for research inspired me to write feature articles. And here I am writing about my favourite things for a living!
My writing really comes to life when I’m able to sink my teeth into weird and wonderful topics relating to health, nutrition, performance and injury.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
I started my career in a completely different area – marketing and public relations. I loved the writing part – not so much the subject matter (private schooling).
One afternoon, instead of writing the school newsletter, I ended up spending hours reading about the Maillard reaction. Ha! That was a pretty clear indication I needed to transition into nutrition writing.
But to be taken seriously as an expert in nutrition, I wanted to hold a dietetic qualification. Little did I know, I would soon be swept away to China and thrown into the deep end of high-performance sports nutrition. And what an adventure awaited!
I worked with the Chinese Super League team, Shanghai Port; guided athletes at the Shanghai Research Institute of Sports Science; established a high-performance department in a private sports clinic; and challenged my sanity in Turkmenistan by managing nutrition at a martial arts competition.
I now balance my writing career with my sports dietitian roles at the Fremantle Football Club and Canada Snowboard. It’s been quite the trip!
